The bigger despair is that you're a slave to society. You have to liberate yourself from money. (Good luck if your parents are in debt!) You should apply for food stamps and ignore everything. Have fun with freewarehome.com

It's always hard to find a first job. You just have to keep trying. Apply EVERYWHERE. Try places where it's mostly people your age working. I'm 17 years old and I work at a roller skating place. It may seem lame, but i love it because everyone is my age and we're all friends and hang out outside of work. Hang in there. You will find something eventually. Also another tip: If there is a place that you know, like a restaurant, that has mostly high school kids working wait till the time when the ones that were seniors go off to college. That will leave some openings in some businesses for the school year.

The job market sucks, and alot of over qualified applicants are submitting resumes and getting the jobs. Just hold tight and dont give up...you will see that diligence and persaverance will pay off..

Have you been sending out 100 resumes per week? If not, then you aren't really trying. How many companies have you just walked into with your resume? How many temp or staffing agencies have you applied with?

Make a List of your skills, then What Job you want to do, and prepare a good RESUME about your archievements. Send out the Resume to Places you want to work that are hiring. Make sure your Contact information is included and Legible. Try Online job Search and resume submission. eg Chicago job Fox , or Job.com etc. Dont give up hope. You are still Young and you can learn a trade or more schooling. Good-luck. Dont give up hope.

Hello Brandon: It's not just you. This problem and attitude is everywhere. Employers right now are not willing to hire minors. It costs extra for their liability insurance, and they can't afford it. They don't even want to hire people over 18 on a full time basis in some industries because they will have to pay them benefits, which is another cost to the employer. They're not willing to hire people with very little experience, so even college grads can't find jobs flipping burgers. Get a jump on the competition and take a class or two in what you want to do as a career. My niece was 16 when she started studying to be a Nursing Assistant. She went to college in the afternoons and at night while she was in high school. Because she was under 18, the college couldn't charge her full price, so she got by cheap. Then when she turned 18 she took the State certification test and got licensed to be a CNA. A full 2 years ahead of her classmates, who were just graduating from high school! Use your hardworking ethic to propel yourself to success. You have the desire, now make it work for you! Good luck in your career choices.

You might have to broaden your search. Right now, well atleast where I live there are so many kids home from University everywhere has just stopped hiring... although that will change in August when they all go back to school. Try applying to McDonald's, Wendy's (any form of fast food) they usually hire. Grocery stores, Wal Mart, Target .. I work at Domino's, and I can say that we don't have many people working inside so it is harder to get a job at smaller places (we haven't hired in a year except for deliver drivers, which they are always looking for). Anyways I hope this helps!

Don't worry. Do not give up. I've graduated from University almost 2 years ago, and couldn't find a job yet. I looked and looked, and been to soooooo many interviews. Until I started getting better at interviews, I knew how to answer and what to say, and I am more confident now. Something I've learned, people will be believe whatever you say as long as you are confident. Even if it does not make any sense. Don't lose hope, as I haven't. Who knows, we might start working soon. Coz it seems that my last interview went so well and I am getting a job soon inshallah. Gluck!
