How annoying is it that people have turned Easter, a religious holiday into "new clothes and sneakers"?

Where i live (NYC) where Easter has turned into buying new clothes and sneakers and going out...where Easter is a religious day, not a commercial day.

Even a hundred years ago my grandmother had new clothes for Easter Sunday Church services, her mother made them. I remember her telling me she didn't have a bonnet as pretty as mine, that was 50 yrs ago. I see nothing commercialism about new clothes, however, all those silly cheap made Easter toys are another matter. Wind up chicks, & hens when pushed down lay jelly beans out the butt. The kids toss them in a few days.
