If I am an at-will employee, do I still have to follow "employment conditions" on a form I signed?

I'm an at-will employee (which is explicitly stated in a form I signed), but that same form also contains other conditions my bank (employer) says they "require"...one ...show more

Answer:
As an "at-will" employee you are subject to termination of your employment for: - a good reason - a bad reason - no reason at all The only exceptions may be: - if you are protected by a contract - if you are protected by a union - if you are a member of a "protected class" The "at will" provisions work both ways - that means, you can quit OR your employer can fire you "at will..." It would not be worth your time to tinker and make a big thing out of the 3-week provision vs the usual 2-week provision. After all, it would be (a) time consuming, (b) counterproductive, in the end, and (c) would not make your working conditions any better...

At will means that either one of you can terminate employment for any reason. As far as giving 3 weeks notice instead of 2 that's just an office policy it has nothing to do w/legality. The form you signed is more than likely just office procedures.

No, that clause is not enforceable for an "at will" employee. They can't exactly, fire you for not complying with the agreement, if you didn't follow this step. Whether the other clauses are, would depend on what they said.

yes you're bound by what you sign, but think of this: if you give only 2 weeks notice, and not 3, what are they going to do? make you work another week at gunpoint? not likely

No matter the type of contract you agreed to, you need to abide by the regulations.

If you signed it, you agreed to it. If you don't provide what they require, then you suffer the consaequences.
