Is it more respectable to be a trial lawyer than to be a corporate lawyer?

Both are extremely valuable careers. Pick the position that you "feel is best in your heart." Not what your family feels. Remember it is you, and only you that went to law school to become an attorney. Corporate law is very valuable, especially in today's age with all the "stuff" going on. Corporate lawyers make the big $$$. People think they are more grimy because they are out to protect big businesses, but everyone has the right to protect their assets and investments, even the wealthy corporations. The lawyers people hate the most seem to be: Defense attorneys:because they defend the accused Trial lawyers: because they sue people and some are frivolous Corporate attorneys: because they protect the big businesses Corporate lawyers make more because they are always paid up by the business. The trial lawyers seem like they make more money when they sue the big businesses and the defense attys make chump change (compared to the others)unless they are high profile. I respect all lawyers because somebody has to do it, and we all need them one day for one reason or another: estate atty, tax atty, criminal atty, defense atty, trial atty, immigration atty, whatever we need you. Corporate law is better paid. If your family argue show them your new Porsche in a few months time.

Your family is wrong. It is trial lawyers that are the scum of the earth.
