What is the history of Easter?

What is the history of the Easter Bunny and why is he the Representative of Easter and Jesus isn't?

  • I need this answer for a school thing.

  • Answer:

Easter was a pagan fertility holiday. (Look up Eostre or Ostara for info on the bunny.) Bunnies, eggs, all the trappings of easter are fertility fetishes. The Catholic church simply took over the older Pagan celebrations and tried to "Christianize" them.

Jesus has nothing to do with Ostara (Easter is the christian version of the Pagan holiday). Ostara was the celebration of spring/new beginnings which is where the connection of an egg comes in.

The Grand Inquisitor

Bring up a picture of the Last Supper. If you look hard enough you will see something that looks like an egg, lying in front of St. Peter, the first pope. St. Peter was no man, but a rabbit. Or as you may know him as, "Peter Rabbit." The Church would not let Leonardo Da Vinci paint St. Peter as a Rabbit, so he was forced to paint him as a man. He did though leave clues as to the true identity of St. Peter, such as the egg. With laser technology, archaeologist were able to look past the second layer of paint, to the original depiction of St. Peter as a Rabbit. You may wonder why Jesus would want a rabbit to run his church, but this is because Jesus knew no one man could speak for everyone in a religion. Men are intolerant and corrupted, but Rabbit's are pure. The Catholic church covered it up though, and put a man in charge. The Hare Club for Men has been painting Easter Eggs ever since to keep the truth alive.

actually the easter bunny and the egg represent Jesus in a pagan way. Here i will explain, the easter bunny hides the eggs and kids run out to find them right? Well, God aka the bunny took the egg aka Jesus and hid him in the world then the kids would seek after the eggs. Thus in biblical terms people sought out god and jesus by finding him. and in the pagan terms the kids found the eggs that the bunny had hid. I was raised with this and if you think about it it may be true. Let me know what you think.

No relation to Jesus what's so ever. There was no underground mutton running around the the Middle East only donkeys. As the rabbit came from the pagan side of the world in Europe.
