Re. the title of your question: It's "does", not "doe's." I am glad that you are saying Christians should understand and respect others' belief systems. And of course you don't have to be Christian in order to be a good person. A good person keeps his/her views to him or herself and does not try to convert others. A good person understands that there are many, many, many different spiritual paths, not just one. Each spiritual path is correct, each spiritual path is valid. Let's have compassion for one another and let's refrain from trying to convert.

Rabbits and eggs are both symbols of the fertility goddess Eostre/Ishtar/Ostara. Her symbol is also the moon, in which some cultures see a rabbit instead of a face. Eggs also symbolize the moon and are the ultimate symbol of creation and new life. The basket is a symbol of the womb in which this new life is carried. The feast day is pagan and was widely celebrated way before the time of Jesus. Like pretty much all holidays, it was adopted by Christians to help get more converts. However, since the point is to celebrate new life and the hope of continuance, Christian symbols of a Resurrection day and the old pagan symbols mean the same thing. Just like Christmas, we are all celebrating the same thing, just using different symbols.

For me, Easter is the promise of a better tomorrow through an unselfish act. Maybe we all should be a little less self and more someone else. I must admit though, I enjoy the special candies and sweets that only get produced for that time of year.

do YOU know what easter is? easter is a gimmick, my sweet sherry pie. take note that jewish passover is on the eact same day, yet the jewish passover has been in existence for FAR longer than "easter". like christmas, it was a holiday created for the sole purpose of recruiting people for religion. say, have you even read the bibble yet?
