What does a medical receptionist do at the office?

Is it common practice for a medical office to request a credit report for a position as a receptionist?

  • I found an ad on Craigslist.com last week for a receptionist's position at a medical office. I emailed the poster of the ad and received an email two days later about my inquiry. ...show more

  • Answer:

Businesses can request a credit report and this is normal if you are applying for a position in a financial institution or where you would be working with monies. But I have heard of this scam on craigslist where they say you have to bring three or so items with you for interview and then link you to a website where you can obtain your credit report. Thing is, you have to pay for it! This is not normal. Generally if a company requires a credit report, they will obtain it at no cost to you. Hope this helps, but just to be safe, I wouldn't spend any money before going to an interview, or just so you can interview.
