Do you have to learn cooking skills to become a pastry chef?

Becoming a pastry chef involves measuring correctly and doing things in a certain way. A great way to see if this is a career for you is to take a course at a local community college or cooking school. I took a pastry class at Schoolcraft college, which is a cooking school to train chefs. They offered a community education course for the general pubic and it was great. There were pastry student helpers who were great resources.

Nooooo... My dad is a pastry chef and dont get me wrong, he can cook but he only went to the first part of the classes to become a pastry chef and not a chef chef. Anyways, my point is, you do not have to take the cooking part of the class. Just take what you want, the baking part.
