Well the minimum wage is now $7.25 so you could work at Subway or McDonalds for $7 an hour. My opinion, serving is the way to go. Apply to be a server granted the pay is only $2.13 an hour but the tips make up for it. Its hard work but can be rewarding.

Although the work can be stressful and you could be worn out quickly, if there is a call center (telemarketing) in your area I would apply there. In maine call centers are always hiring, and they frequently offer over time. Most people won't like the work, but if you can stand it then it's a potential money maker. The earnings can be unlimited. Also fast food places (in Maine at least) are almost always hiring. I'm not sure if you're looking for full time or part time, but if worse comes to worse you could always work at multiple places, right? Effective July of this year, the federal minimum wage is $7.25, so if you are legally employed somewhere, expect to make at least this much. If you work in a call center, sometimes you can get commission or bonuses. Once of the starting pay at a call center around here is $9.07, plus commission. The average employee at this particular call center made between $15 and $18 an hour. If there is a career center or employment agency, check with them. With the economy the way it is and no post secondary education, you can't be too picky with jobs. I won't give you the college speech, just do what you think is right!

Jobs are pretty tight right now so you might want to go to your local Manpower office and start there. Also, apply with the other temp agencies in your area. If you can get a temp job it may work into a full time or at least you'll be working until the job market gets better.
