Why do you want to work at Boston Pizza?

Ive been looking for work for a long time, now my dad says he doesnt want me to work at a pizza place!!?

  • Whats so bad about a pizza place?! this makes me kind of mad because theres really not much else available where I live. I am sooo mad!!!

  • Answer:

Don't be mad at your Dad. Realize that he is not so much knocking your working at a pizza place as he is concerned about your settling for less than you can be. As a parent, I can only assume this is his motivation. If you REALLY love working at the pizza place and this is REALLY what you WANT to do, then explain that to your father and let him know that you don't feel like you are settling for less than you want or need. I'm not sure he will agree (I don't know that I agree and I don't even know you) but he will have to respect your desire (assuming you are actually old enough to make that decision for yourself). Please do me a favor and make sure you are not taking the easy road. If the pizza place is a "stop along the road" for you while you are looking for something else, then that is fine. If it is your career objective, then make sure it is allowing you all of the things you want out of a career.

Pray to God about it and then: Think up some mature questions to ask your dad why he's worried about you working there. Be careful to just listen during this time and at the end of it thank him for sharing his concerns with you After you get feedback , come up some ways u can present why this job would be good for you. Then think of creative ways to present it to him alone. It's important to try to get what u want by being mature and communicating your concerns properly and more importantly here him out , because u want him to hear u.

Probably because he doesn't want you working there the rest of your life and wants you to get a good education so you can go out and make lots of money instead of $6.50 an hours.

I think that's really a question to talk to your dad about. I would imagine there's a specific concern he has -- maybe it's the late hours, maybe it's the location of the particular pizza joint. Can the two of you sit down and have a logical, unemotional discussion about his objections? Can you talk to him rationally without getting huffy or belligerant or crying, about his concerns and see if you can work out something?
