People who are speculating what will happen are just speculating. As it stands currently, only some policies offer coverage for mental health services, and many restrict greatly the number of visits or dollar amount that will be paid annually and over the life of the policy. I don't know if the Affordable Care Act has specific mental health provisions, but you should ask this question of your professional organization's legal or practice department. The effort of the ACA is to expand insurance coverage to more people by creating a "group" of the uninsured and under-insured. There is a lot of speculation about how this will play out because the success of the system will depend on how many healthy people sign up for coverage versus choosing to pay penalties, etc. While many people are making guesses, and some very educated ones, it is difficult to project the future.
