  depends on where you are. most states in the US and you have to be at least 15+ and in some cases at least 16 just to be legally allowed to work. even then a lot of places wont hire someone so young because of the liability of it and because your hours are probably limited by school and such. most common places to hire that young are food stores and drug stores for check out people and also small, lowstress food service industry (think icecream parlor or sandwich shop, not diner or bar). those are strictly "on-the-books" type gigs. when i was 14-15, i was mowing yards during the summer and shoveling snow during the winter to make money until i was old enough to work in a bookstore. of course not to sound sexist, but those are more "male" oriented jobs. my kid sister got jobs at 15yrs babysitting or house sitting for neighbors. at 16+ things really open up and waitressing is a pretty easy thing to fall into. most girls who work at that age are either going to work retail or as waitstaff, and waitstaff pays a lot better and it's a lot more fun. you're rewarded for your attention and hard work with tips etc and at most restaurants you can usually get a free meal. a lot of girls start waitressing in highschool and do it all the way through college. of course you're not limited to these things. you can do whatever you set your mind to, so dream big. but these are all easy things to fall into. especially so young! enjoy and be safe
