What is the average salary for a RN in Toronto?

Salary for an rn with an associate's degree and rn with a bachelors degree?

  • How much more does a rn with a bachelor's degree make than a rn with an associate's degree?

  • Answer:

My mom got her bachelor's after becoming an RN with the associates and she only got about a 50 cent raise. LOL Freakin sucks I know but I hear that you have more job opportunities with the bachelor's. She got reimbursement on her tuition for the bachelor's so all was not lost. xP I remember my mom used to work on weekends on graveyard shift 3 days a week and her yearly salary was about $70K. She was usually pretty wasted after the first day of her weekend tho.

The big difference is one will have an easier time finding a job and the other one won't. Magnet hospitals want BSNs. Several states are saying BSN in 10. Those who don't upgrade or start planning for the BSN may find themselves unemployed especially in this tough economy. So to answer your question, the one with the BSN and a job will make more than an umemployed RN with an Associate's degree.

I haven't seen an RN with just a Associates degree working the ICUs in a long time. The expectationis for the BSN and there are enough grads with these degrees a hospital doesn't have to hire an Associates grad. Salary is irrevalent is you don't have a job. Go to www.allnurses.com and read the many posts of unemployed RNs. Some with two year degrees and some with 4 year. But the 4 year grads have more choices at the better hospitals and more career path choices.
