Becoming a Nurse Practitioner?

Can someone help me get an inside opinion on becoming a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner?

    If you want to be a nurse practictioner, you MUST be an RN first with a BSN degree, to apply for graduate school. So you should start by becoming an RN, working for a year or two, and then decide if you want to get your masters or doctorate in nursing to become an NP. you dont need to have experience, you just have to be smart and do well in nursing school.
