How to go from a Nurse Practitioner to Nurse Anesthetist?

If I go to school to become a Nurse Anesthetist and want to go up and become an actual Anesthesiologist can I?

    If you became a CRNA and wanted to be an anesthesiologist, yes, you would need to attend medical school, go through residency, fellowship, etc. There is no way around it just because you've had your CRNA. If you want to be an anesthesiologist, don't go to nursing school, it would be a waste of your time.

Jill is exactly right. you would be wasting your time if you really want to be a doctor. The two educational tracks have very very little in common. You would need to basically start all over again

Yes you would have to go to additional schooling. Medical School and Nurse school are different things because they have different jobs to do. If you became a Nurse and then wanted to be a doctor that means, Medical School, Residency, More Residency for Specializing, etc. Might be easier to go the other way around if you can, start becoming an Anesthesiologist and if you don't like it drop out and become a nurse.
