I am in nursing school now and it is extremely difficult. It is very different from undergraduate coursework. I am in class 10 hours a week and in the clinical setting 20 hours a week. On top of that I do about 2 hours of studying a night even on weekends. The tests in nursing school are very different from any test you will have taken before. Chances are there are going to be at least 2 if not more right answers to every question but you will have to assess which is the best answer and even when you assess to the best of your ability you are still going to have disagreements with your instructor about which is truly the best answer. There is a lot of frustration and many moments where I really want to throw in the towel but all in all it has been a great experience. I don't say any of this to be discouraging. It is just the truth. If you are prepared to work your butt off there is no reason you can't be successful. Good luck

It's great that you're working more diligently :) With regard to nursing school, one should be strong in the sciences (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy & physiology) in order to possibly handle the rigorous nature of a nursing curriculum. The nursing program is supposed to be VERY challenging with a lot of reading, studying, and learning new concepts and clinical procedures. You're smart to be considering the more affordable community college as opposed to those private overly priced For-profit schools such as devry, argosy, pima medical, everest, keiser and others. Their course credits usually do NOT transfer to other schools, even if the for-profit school is regionally accredited as opposed to only nationally accredited. Just an fyi that "american public university" is a for-profit school.
