Answer:
Hello Health & social Care is an excellent choice. I have studied firstly an NC, then an HNC more recently an SVQIII. This opened a lot of career opportunities for me. And a chance to carry on to University It can be a mentally draining career with little thanks or rewards, however the challenges are full of highs. The people who receive care can take you very for granted. That can become a tad annoying! Whilst there is addiction etc you will never be out of a job for long. And the way things are going with people taking drugs trend, that can only result in poor mental health. There is always going to be old people or people with special needs too. However with all the training available competition is big now. And we all have to register soon with the SSSC.( I am from Scotland, things may be different in other Countries.) Which makes it more difficult because simply if you do not have a recognised qualification to register, then you cannot work in Social Care. So now would be the best time to start. Doing some Voluntary work is a good beginning. Also some paid sessional work where you can gain some practical experience prior to the theory work. Good luck whatever you decide:-)

You should do what im about to do. Im about to start work in a care home as a care assistant (Dont need experience). They are going to put me through lots of Health care courses and are sending me college 1day a week. Contact your local care homes and ask if they have positions. Its a BUPA home im going to.

It would depend on what area you wish to work in, but the course would definitely get you a foot in the door, some jobs require further training. If you are going to study at college, there will be specific people there to help you find employment on finishing the course. Within the NHS there is currently a job freeze which isn't ideal so jobs are scarce, but there are a few around.
