  Personally I do not believe UCSC offers associate degrees, you will need to look into a community college for that. UCSC gives, BAs, MAs, and PhDs. With an associate degree you can probably become a store or restaurant manager, or somewhere along that level. Though now many of those people have BA degrees. If you want a job that pays well but does not require an associates degree, then look for jobs that are highly technical or skilled. Although you might not need a "degree" you will need some type of certificate that may take the same amount of time it takes to get a degree. Jobs that make a lot are elevator technicians, electrical line workers, or plumbers. Careers in law enforcement and corrections also pay well but are highly competitive. Also just because a job does not require a degree or certificate does not mean that you will actually get hired as many places only hire people with degrees because the applicant pool is so large.
