    Personally, I hated my pediatric rotation! I felt so bad for those poor little sick kids - and I hated being the meanie who had to give them a shot! I don't know what that other person was talking about - adults are MUCH easier to deal with - especially since when you are taking care of kids you are also dealing with their parents. I wouldn't call nursing "fun". But I would say it's worth it.

I have never worked as a nurse, but I have been a voluenteer. Most of it is depressing and sad, to see sick children suffering from cancer or a disease, and knowing they're so young and in pain. But it's priceless to see smiles on their faces when you bring them a teddy, or play with them, or help them out on a walk when they're feeling better. It's hard work, repetetive, boring, long hours, but just to see them smile is....well it really touches you. Even moreso when the parents come to visit and see their child with a smile on their face and a big of happiness instead of being sick and sleeping. It's a big relief. Being a voluenteer I didn't make any money, but hearing kids laugh and seeing them play even though they were sick just made me feel so much better. I love working with children.
