I would say, start researching and readying now. Atlanta is huge, there propably is more opportunity there.

You'll have to get your basic biology and mathematical knowledge before starting the training in Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy or whatever you want to do. Perhaps there are access courses, aka foundation years before college.

When you talk about the medical field that could mean a multitude of thing. you'll need more than experience to have anything to do with patients. you'll need a formal education. There's no grandfathering.
