Is nursing still a good career choice? Is it still easy to find a job with no experience?

I've been told lately that nursing has become a bad career choice. There are too many nursing graduates. People are having a hard time getting a job, or that they have to work ...show more

Answer:
Yes, they are right. There are many nursing grads now---true. Many hospitals don't accept new grads, except for a few hosps who have a New Grad program. Most of them hire experience RNs ( at least 1 yr experience). BUT I still think nursing is the best way to go. Good Luck!

Nursing is a great degree especially if you have any brains. What it allows you to do are many different occupations - anything from massage to acupuncture to cranio-sacral work to psychological counseling, drug counseling, diabetic counseling. You can go into being a midwife - you could teach sex education in the grade school/high school. And what's coming your way is a whole generation of Baby Boomers (the age of President Clinton) who are getting old and will be sick all the time - so there's going to be no end to the work opportunities. Perhaps those nurses who only want the very traditional work are finding it hard right now to find jobs, but I hadn't heard that either. Stay out of hospitals if you can - they're real boring places to work after a while.

Nursing is a great career choice because of the many different things that you can do with a BSN (Bachelors degree in nursing). You will always be in demand and always have good pay. You don't necessarily have to work in a hospital, although you should because you get to experience lot's of different things. All hospitals hire new grads, however, they don't let them work in certain parts, like the ICU. They would rather have experienced nurses work there. This is for an RN, LPN's may have a harder time finding a job because hospitals prefer RNs. However, if you chose the RN route, you can expect to get a great job out of graduation, because they need you. It's a great career.
