    you don't need a degree. most community colleges offer classes to prepare you for certification but they are a waste of time and money. Many chain pharmacies will hire you as a technician in training and give you materials you need to study for the certification test.

I obtained my pharmacy technician diploma at my local community college. It was only a 2 month crammed course. It all depends on where you go. Some schools offer courses which last from a month to a year. To work as a pharmacy technician, well, in my state, you have to be licensed by the state and most (in hospials) have to obtain their PTCB.

well, comunity college usually offer pharmacy technician programs 1 year,however, there are vocational schools that provide these type of programs ( 7 to 8 months ) then as far as i know the school takes care of the license process and usually takes about 1 to 3 months to get your licence depending on you state.
