What do an RN and a Physical Therapist do?

Which is a better career choice rn or physical therapist?

  • which is a better career choice Rn or physical therapist? Including which pays better and which is harder to become. Also do you have to go to medical school to become an PT?

  • Answer:

I can't answer which is "better," because they are different. I'd recommend shadowing both and see what you like. A basic Physical Therapists versus a basic RN, the PT will make more than the nurse. Nurses can get their master's degrees, like PTs, and then the salaries become pretty competitive. Nurses with their MS degrees tend to make more. Some PTs open up their own outpatient clinics and make big bucks, but, then again, some Nurse Practitioners can do that, too. You don't go to medical school for physical therapy, but you need a master's degree. I've heard, in the future, you'll need to get a phD. Good luck, they're both great careers to get into!

a Physical Therapist pays better you need a BSN degreee so 4 years but the pay is good and no weekends or holidays RN had enless possibilites try not to thing just about the money think about what will make you happy and be proud of yourself at the end of the day. a PT does the same thing over and over some like that an RN the possiblitlies are endless and if you work in a field like ICU/ER or mangement you wil make the big bucks or even heart transplants, or even a flight nurse. so many options.

Nurses should earn more but they also attend college twice as long as a physical therapist. Salaries should also be higher for an RN. Either should offer job security. You don't need to go to medical school to become a physical therapist. There are 2 year programs at many community colleges. Of course there are also 2 year LPN programs for nursing. I would expect nursing would be more difficult to get into a program.
