How long should I wait to contact my potential employer after my first interview and should I call or email?

If they did not tell you when they would be contacting you, wait 2-4 days (working days) , and make it a phone call. If they told you it was an intimidate opening, I would wait only 2 days (interview on Monday, call on Thursday), if they want to fill in a month or so wait 4 days. Call them, stay in the front of their mind.

You could email a note before the end of the same day you interview thanking the interviewer for meeting with you AS LONG AS email has been the primary way the potential employer has communicated with you. If not, a phone call is appropriate. Contacting the potential employer right away shows that you are appreciative for the opportunity and interested in the job. Be sure to point out one or two aspects of the job which you find interesting. Good luck!
