If you are going with a standard watch, something with a second hand is a must for taking manual pulses. Water proof is good as there is a lot of handwashing. A sturdy band is also a must as we bump and bang things around a lot and it would be a shame to get the gift damaged. Hope this helps

Check ebay for nurses watches - need second hand for checking pulse & Water resistant is good.

Just make sure it has a second hand...preferably one that hesitates.. (stops at each second)...makes it easier to count... Other than that...make sure it's durable and will stay in place.... and fits her style. good luck.
