How much do medical billers get paid?

Why do nurses get paid alot higher than medical billers/coders?

  • Why do they? I mean, most jobs of nurses are physical, while it takes alot of mental energy to contact insurance companies and bill patients as well as do a little book keeping and ...show more

  • Answer:

I suggest you shadow a nurse for a week. See the things they have to touch and clean up, see the crazy hours they have to works. see the amount of abuse they take from families, patients, and doctors. Then, if you think it is a better deal, just change your job and become one. BTW, you are totally going to get blasted by every nurse.

If you're jealous of how much nurses make ... try getting a bachelors degree in nursing . But don't whine about what other people make . You sound pathetic. You say nothing about what nurses have to go through to become RN's . You say nothing about the actual work nurses do . If the insult fits wear it . You are also very immature.

First of all, I am a NURSE --- Not a NURSE AIDE *** There's a Huge difference in years of education!!! You contradict your statements with nurse in beginning and then change to nurse aide. *** After you decide which you mean, start over with your stupid question ** A NURSE has many more years education and levels of expertise beyond a ''medical secretary'' that it would take me pages to describe, so I'm going to assume you mean a nurse assistant or aide. A CNA (certified nurses assistant) has the same amt. Of education time as you , but they do have the patient contact, also, where I live they make about the same money.

Nurses also have to be very bright in the medical field, the doctor can diagnose but the nurse does everything else and her shifts are usually 12 hours long they more than deserve what they are paid.

Hi, Wow, sounds like you have a lot of frustration and have had a raw deal lately. I feel your pain. It doesn't make any sense to argue. I always wondered that since it was the nurses who did all the hands on work, and the dirty work, and doctors are never the ones at the bedside to code a patient, why do the doctors who breeze in and bark orders and then scurry off make all the real bucks. Go figure. Good luck.
