Do I have to have a nursing degree to become an RN?

You need to have graduated from nursing school to be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN. However, since you already have a BS in Biology, you have already taken all of your nursing prerequisites. Where I live in NY, Pace University (and I'm sure there are other schools that have this too) will do what they call a "Combined Degree Program" where, if you already have your prereqs done and you already have a BS (which you do) you can get your BSN in one very intensive year and be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN.

yes you need a degree they arent just gonna pick you up of the street you need to go to school for it...easiest route is tech school and get an associates degree it takes 2-3 years depending on how the school is set up

What is the shortest route to become a RN? It maybe the shortest but it's not the easiest either because it is more fast paced than a 4 year university's nursing program, in which is a hospital based program and a nursing program in a community college. A hospital based program will actually make you just take the nursing classes as long as you pass their entrance test and their programs are intense and very good. They have a high rate of passing the nclex of what I have seen. They are highly competitive and some of them still require you to take certain classes before you apply like a community college's nursing program.
