Answer:
Larger hospitals do not use nurse anesthetists that much. The anesthesiologists (who are physicians) have to be responsible for them, and I was told personally that it is a burden.

i would suggest you to become Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) since they are the highest compensating nurses in the industry. they draws an average $135,000 as per BLS statistics. on the other hand Nurse Practitioner (NP) is at 7th position when it comes to salary. their average salary is $78,000 which isn't bad. Course difficulty? who cares.. all professional courses are difficult and need some degree of hard work to get certified.the industry recognition you will get as a Anesthetist is far higher than a Practitioner have because you work together with different healthcare professionals such as anesthesiologists, surgeons, podiatrists and dentists almost independently to securely provide anesthesia treatments.

I recommend NP because now a nurse anesthetist needs doctorate. It used to be only a Masters program but now it is changing to a doctorate program (PhD). It also depends if you like to work directly with patients or patients who are asleep. A nurse anesthetist deals with patients who are asleep and then wakes them up briefly at the end of the operation. A NP is only working with patients who are fully awake.
Educated
Hello. I am also trying to get my BSN. All courses are equally as challenging... Heard Anesthetists get paid well..
