    Based on what I've heard, the minimum is 35 wpm with 95% accuracy. That doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get a job though because there are a lot of people these days can easily type 50+ wpm with over 95% accuracy, and that's what your competition is going to be like when you're applying for a job.

I think I can answer this for you as I have placed several Medical Transcriptionists in their jobs over the year. The position requires fast and accurate typing as well as accurate medical spelling. Typing speed of 50 wpm is generally required. Accuracy is very important and also medical terminology is very important. The demand for medical transcriptionist seems to be declining with automation and jobs going overseas. Knowledge of software and ability to edit is essential as often the computer can transcribe from the Doctors voice recognition software but then the document needs to be proof read and edited by an experienced Transcriptionist.
