Answer:
Here's an email I just received. I am in the health care field. If you know of anyone between 18-28 years old, interested in the Nursing field, University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is offering FREE tuition, FREE books, a $250 monthly stipend, and guaranteed job placement as a nurse at Providence Hospital upon graduation (it's a 3 year program) with a starting salary of $40,000. The program is recruiting new students now!! Please contact Ms. Beshon Smith (202) 266-5481 or email [email protected]

I'm starting work as a cardiac telemetry RN in a community hospital in NY, and I will be starting at $30/hr. I have my BSN though. There are many states where the starting salary for and RN is much lower than $30/hr though, it really depends where you live.

You can take on-line classes many times through the college you wish to attend with only a first time attendance to obtain your course syllabus. If you plan to take courses on-line outside of the college you plan to attend you need to make sure that the college that you plan to obtain your degree from will accept the credits you received from the on-line course. Also make sure the University that you plan to addend will also accept the credits not only from the on-line college, but from your Junior college.

I must caution you against going into this thinking of money. Yes, nurses are well paid, however, with that as your only incentive it wont be too long before you are dissatisfied with what you are doing. If you do not have the yearning to care for and to help your fellow man, this pursuit will be pointless and empty.

Salary is very dependent on geographic location, but I think $30/hour would probably be a reasonable expectation. Good for you for wanting to continue your education past the ADN! I would recommend that you look at a mortar & brick school rather than an on line program. If you start taking on line courses, you may find they don't transfer to the school where you will earn your BSN. One of the nice things about nursing is that you have a lot of flexibiity in your schedule to work around your scheduled coursework. And getting your hospital to help you pay is a big plus.
