EDIT: "RingOfRoses" was a little off with her answers: You can become an RN with an Associate Degree. An EMT takes a 6 month course (even a paramedic is a 2 year program), and a Midwife (as in Certified Nurse-Midwife) takes a Masters in Nursing. A doula is a women trained to be a labor support person. Trust me on these two answers...I've been in Maternal/Newborn healthcare for 15 years and my pharmacist hubby was a paramedic when we first met. Those standards for Midwifery and EMS run standard across the US!! Associate Degree: Respiratory Therapist, Radiologic Tech (X-ray), Nuclear Med/Medical Imaging, Diagnostic Sonographer (Ultrasound tech). Surgical Tech (the one that passes the "scalpel". Bachelor Degree: all of the above, except surgical tech, plus Cardiovascular Technologist (does Echocardigram- "heart" ultrasound" and cardiac testing. Those careers you mentioned in your question are Medical Doctors. If you are looking for something that does require a college degree (at least an Associate Degree) and is not nursing, do a web search for "Allied Health Careers".

It's such a a huge field that we could be here all day discussing it. The best advice i could give you is to sit down and via the internet research and make a list of all of the job titles in hospital that you can find. Do this by going to medical job boards and just browse through the vacancies. Then research the job role them selves by typing in say 'radiologist job description' - read what you can find and make notes on them. Look at the daily duties etc. After you have researched all of them and made notes go over them and make a short list of your favourites. This will give you a short list to focus on and a good idea if it's what you are looking for. Remember a little detailed and focused research not can save you a lot of headaches later on. The last thing you want to do is to go into a profession and then find it's not what you want.

A lot of great answers were already given. You can search the professions they listed on this site, or for a list of careers scroll down to the Health section: http://www.bls.gov/oco/oco1002.htm#diag If you're looking for something similar to nursing as far as schooling/pay, I would recommend researching Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Echocardiography, Speech-Language Pathology (master's required), & Respiratory therapist.
