What's the difference between an MA and a dental assistant?

Whats the difference between a nurse and a medical assistant?

  • I would like to go back to school, and I want to know what is the difference between a nurse and a medical assistant? Any information would be helpful.

  • Answer:

MA's work with physicians and can administer medications, injections, assist in procedures, lab work for blood and urinalysis. The ya can also draw blood and make good money working as a Phlebotomist. MA's can make an average scale of 35 to 40 thousand a year. Decent if you do not want to be a CNA anymore.

A nurse has far more training, preferably a degree, and gets paid leaps and bounds more than a medical assistant. A medical assistant does mostly office work. And just FYI, a CNA (certified nursing assistant) does what the nurses don't want to=wipe butts, bathe, clothe, and care for patients...very thankless and low paying job (can you tell I was one?) There are a few vocational schools out there that you can get either an LPN (licensed practical nurse) or RN (registered nurse=better) in half the time of college. Vocational schools will save you the time, money and aggravation you'll get at a college. Colleges require a lot of crap classes you don't need to be a nurse, but they want you to pay to get your degree. Get certified by a reputable vocational school first. Most employers will pay a good nurse (with high grades) to go to college to get a 4 year degree in nursing, and most colleges will accept vocational credits (just have a college in mind and check to see if the vocational school has any transfer agreements with local colleges to ease the transfer of your credits).

Nurses that I know of are ,practitioners, cna(certified nurses assistant) RN,(registered nurse) LVN,(licensed vocational nurse) Best payed are practitioners and RNs

MA's do not do any actual patient care and do not make good money, RN's can push drugs give IV's and actually provide care, plus they make great money

to my understanding, a medical assistant is the one who helps the nurse.
