Like one contributor mentioned, getting your BSN is TOTALLY different from nursing school; it's on a different (professional) level. Plus, it's more managerial-type courses - not peds or critical care or ED - it's courses like management 101, conflict management, time management, etc. --- information that staff nurses should have under their belt(s) to help healthcare organizations run more smoothly. Armed with a BSN, you open yourself up to MANY, MANY other job opportunities, especially in the realm of sales (pharmaceutical or device sales, in particular), which, in turn, opens yourself up to higher salaries. These fields obviously won't further or benefit your nursing career but they're worth looking into. I worked as a RN for 5 years, then got into pharma sales and I haven't regretted one minute of it. It's almost too good to be true. Good luck.

Bachelors of Business Administration. Helps quite a bit if you are looking to become a Director of Nursing.
JNS

Just an FYI that completing your BSN is NOT like going throught your initial RN program. It is WAY less intense, you don't have to take the courses in a forced two year sequence, and many of the programs are offered online for increased flexibility. My BSN completion program was a cake walk, I don't think I barely even read my textbooks except to write papers. The tests were few and far between (and way easy). But good luck, whatever you decide!
