Hi and congratulations on your journey towards a nursing career! You can be accepted to college with a GED. You don't need anymore classes. Go to the college or university you want to attend and get an application. Yes, you can become a RN in two years....but not every college offers this option. Your best bet is to check out "Community Colleges" or any "vocational schools" that are in your area. There is a national nursing shortage! You may be eligible for scholarships/grants through your state if you are wanting to become an RN. (I'm not a nurse, but I know this as FACT.) We have a program here in Michigan where the state will pay for part of your schooling to become an RN due to the national nursing shortage. Check out your state through their website to see if scholarships are available. Here is another link that offers possible scholarships. It's through the Johnson and Johnson Company. Good luck! http://www.jnj.com/community/contributions/programs/support.htm

You either need 2 years of pre-requisites, which is the equivalent of an associated degree, or (the better option), get a Bachelor's of Science in Biology before you apply to Nursing school, which will increase your chances of getting accepted. You could also do a pre-med program.

What classes you need really depends on the school you enroll in. Check with each school you're thinking of attending. According to my friend who is a nurse, yes, you can get a degree in 2 years but from what I hear its a very fast program and miss some things and in the medical field they prefer the nurses with bachelor's degrees. This probably varies by location though.

You need anatomy (make sure that you take a single anatomy class with a lab and not an anatomy/physiology combo - this is the requirement for California anyway). You need a physiology class with a lab. You also need microbiology, and sociology. Depending whether you are planning on a two-year RN degree from a community college or a four-year degree (BA in nursing) from a university you will need organic chemistry for a four-year university. Best of luck to you!

you can go to a community college but every student regardless if they recieved their ged or hs diploma has to take certain classes. like pyschology, biology, chemistry, etc...it depends on the school. go to your cc website and there should be info on the nursing AA program assuming they have one. you have to complete pre reqs before you can apply at my schoool we have to do chemistry and intro biology then we can apply but its likea 2yr waiting list. so then we can take the anatomy microbiology and all the other classes we need while we wait to get accepted. you have a good chance---i would go talk to the school counsler and maybe you could start taking some of those classes this spring. good luck to you. it might take a little longer than 2yrs. but it will be worth it. dont listen to anyone who says who have to have a 4yr degree. just make sure your school is accredited. and you should be fine.

I'm not into nursing, but my advice is get up to a local community college and ask a counselor what track you need to be on and you'll find out what classes will be appropriate for the career you're looking into and your interests..(also, why not ask an RN?) I can't remember if you can become an RN in 2 years, but I also have my GED. What I did was, I started out at community college, where there are *many* nursing students, btw. After I did what I wanted to do there, I accumulated some credits and moved on to university. It just depends on what you want to do. Good luck! :]

I think the next best step might be LPN, in most places you can start that course with your GED if you pass the entrance test. Also some colleges will give you credit for the LPN course towards the RN.

You will need to take biology, chemistry, maths and english
