    I suppose the lines are somewhat blurred but I would associate Computer Science more with software and programming , whereas Computer Engineering may lean towards hardware. However there is considerable overlap

Another thing is the leeway when it comes to electives. Most likely if there is some game design course at a traditional university it will be some sort of elective. CS at my school has a lot of electives to choose from and they have more credit hours available to fit more of them into their curriculum. The CE degree on the other hand is usually really packed with circuits, physics, and other hardware courses(networking, computer architecture, advanced digital design) already that you have fewer hours left to use for electives than CS has... you could just take more hours than your degree but noone really does that. So yeah CS.
