Why is everyone looking for sixteen year olds for jobs not fifteen or fourteen year olds?
-
I went looking for a job ad no one would take me. Even if they were hiring

Answer:
Labor laws. These laws restrict how many hours 14 and 15 year old kids can work, the kind of tasks they are able to perform, even how heavy of a box they can carry. These restrictions are so tight that many companies feel it's not worth the hassle to hire someone who can't work more than 3 hours on a school night or can't carry a 20 pound box of frozen burgers. You can read the law here: http://www.dol.gov/dol/topic/youthlabor/

Because in most states, child labor laws don't allow children under 16 to work.
