What is the best way to see the New Year's Eve Fireworks in San Francisco with kids?

Taking parking, safety, hassle, and cost into account, what is the best way to see San Francisco's New Year Eve midnight Fireworks with children?
-
Answer:
I've seen plenty of kids at Embarcadero for fireworks near Pier 39 when I last went to enjoy fireworks in San Francisco. Bring a radio to hear the synchronized soundtrack. Whatever you do, don't even think about driving. Even those who are lucky enough to find parking will find themselves in a nightmare of a gridlock. If you are not in San Francisco, park your car at a BART station and take BART into San Francisco. It's safe and BART runs until 3am[1]. Enjoy. :) Answer written for NYE 2013.
