Which would be a better career Electrical or computer engineer?

If I wanted to pursue a career as a computer tech/engineer, would I need computer skills beforehand?

  • I'm a senior in high school. I've never taken a technical computer program (the closest I've come is "Keyboarding" and "Computer Imagery" xD). ...show more

  • Answer:

You're going to need computer skills before you go into an computer engineering program. The more you know before going into the program, the better off you will be. I'm a senior at Florida Atlantic University, taking their Bachelor of Information Engineering Technology program and it's not for the new user but one who's had at least a couple years experience at the keyboard. The BIET program is a transfer program so you'd get your Associates Degree in computers before beginning classes here. I received my A.S. in Computer Information Technology from Indian River State College in Ft. Pierce, Florida. Without skills it's going to be harder but not impossible to do.
