I've been recruiting in IT in the UK for a few years now, and an MCSA/MCSE always looks good on a CV. It's a nice thing to have, and another tick on many employers "desired skills" lists. However, I have placed PLENTY of people with good skills in roles with many different organisations, and they have not had these qualifications. What to do is entirely up to you. Smaller,a dn more tech-y companies don't really seem to mind too much about these qualifications. Blue chips and Banks do - they'll often turn down candidates who don't have MCSA/E's on their CV's. Try calling some of the target firms you want to work for and asking. They'll be honest about how having the qualification can affect your application, and it'll get your name on their radar! Then you can decide if it's right for you! Good luck!

Nooo!!! Dont do it! Its too expensive. But the microsoft books, get a copy of the OS and Server 2003/5, and two computers to build a network. Also, you are right, there are a lot of jobs asking for unix skills so look at learning unix/linux skills. Also, look at doing a Cisco networking exam. But as for MCSA/MCSE, you have gained enough skills to get pass the first couple of MCSA exams. Go for it - but try studying yourself.
