Answer:
Cisco certifications began with the offer of the Cisco Certified Inter networking Engineer (CCIE), which was an extremely difficult level of certification, since it was the only CCNA course available at that time. Today CCNA is one of the most sought after IT certification that everybody is looking at to start or further accelerate their IT career. Cisco has worked very hard through its history to make sure any CCNA Certification, CCNA training or CCNA course retain its real worth and prestige in the marketplace. From records, it can be attested that in the IT field, Cisco certification courses are advantageous because Cisco is one of the multinational companies that provide valuable certification courses to the IT professionals, in information technology field, it has become a situation for the professionals to certify with some IT certification courses. In this aspect, Cisco certifications help the candidates to gain more knowledge in various specializations in IT.

If you have the cert then you know what sort of jobs you can get. Sounds to me like you don't have a CCNA or know anything about cisco.

Any certification is done to boost a person himself for their promotion or such kind of activities but mere certification doesn't add a feather to you to get any good job. Find any degree from any reputed institute too to grab a good job. To get a quick and great job you should have a minimum valid and related graduation degree like B.Tech, BCA, B.Sc(IT or Computer Science) along with enough depth knowledge and the certification like CCNA which already you've. These makes a deadly combination for a huge payment job but you may go ahead with your CCNA only if you feel you have in depth knowledge in that subject of IT or anyone related to it. Initially you may face a good number of rejection but if you try to get a small industry job, you may succeed and thereafter you may proceed for your degree.

Quick answer is "no" and that applies to all certification programmes. Being certified does you no harm though. What they do prove however is that you have a "four cornered plus more" understanding of the technology or methodology that you are certified in. Certification is always good to see when the applicant has limited experience. Will it open all doors for "any job"? No, in fact no certification or qualification ever will. Your persona (personality) plays a big part. Even with that, at a lot of companies, it's down to the "does the face fit" thinking.
