To make things worse the employers in the US know there is a glut of IT people so when they have an opening they ask for 10 years experience and working experience in 10 programming languages. The days of letting a guy learn the ropes is long over. If you are a college student you will more than likely have to intern for free first. There are a lot of former IT people driving trucks, selling real estate, selling cars, or delivering pizza.

Unskilled labor will always be outsourced, from factories in China to technical support in India. Skilled laborers have very little to be worried about. If it was better in India, we wouldn't have hundreds of thousands of educated Indians living and working in America.
