    Only you can answer that question. If you can actually learn PHP, you aren't too old. Programmers tend to be a little older anyway in larger companies.

I'm turning 40 this year, and I left the security of a full-time teaching career. I"m a state certified elementary teacher with additional college credits and specialized training. I'm sick of the low pay, I would have to work until I am 70 in order to retire comfortably as a teacher! Instead, I'm going back to Arizona State Univ to study Calculus, Statistics, and Finance to get my Post-Bach in Applied Math and Finance. So NO WAY are you TOO old to do what you want !!!!

look at it this way- You have practically got half of your life left to live! You can never be too old- look at thn 96 year olf woman on the news who is studying in Univercity! Yeah, i think you should develop under linux, it depends of how good you are at absorbing information. It could take a short time or a very long time.

No you are not too old to learn new things. Three hours a day of study may not get you there quickly, but if that is all the time you have, for example, if you are working full time, you will eventually reach your goal. Good PHP/MySQL developers are always in demand. A good approach would be to start with some evening courses in a nearby college.
