Is a Computer Science major good for what I want to do?

I really love computers and i want to major in computer science but im not good with math...what should i do?

  • Answer:

Computer Science degrees are, more precisely, laced with calculus. If you really want to do it, go for it. Look into a tutor, check out the student resources for study groups and/or be sure to get along with someone in the calculus class who is a whiz. Good Luck!

do something software/networking related, like CIS.

You should look for another major, since computer science is ALL ABOUT math, amongst other things. Given that math is your weak link, how hard do you think it will be to pass all the math courses required to obtain a degree in CS ? There are other lines of work involved with computers. Check into something in the hardware end, instead of in the software programming end.

I hate math and have been working in IT for over 12 years, don't let it stop you if that is what you really like to do.

Find some kind of hardware oriented degree, if you're not good at math you won't do good in computer science.

Suck it up and do what you want. You cannot allow your lack of knowledge in math become a hindrance. Work extra harder, if necessary.
