What are some mistakes to avoid in an interview?

How do I avoid psyching myself out for an interview?

  • I have a job interview on Monday. It's almost the exact position that I want right now (I can only think of two other positions in the entire city I'd rather have, and neither of them are vacant right now). I'm very, very excited and nervous about this interview. I believe, however, that in past interviews where I was also (but less) excited and nervous, it came off in the interview as desperate, needy, willing to say anything they wanted, etc, and hurt my changes of getting the position. Every job I've gotten since I graduated was one where, when I went to the interview, I honestly didn't care much whether I got the job or not. What are some tactics for talking myself down so I appear more confident at the interview and have a better chance of getting the job? In the past I've tried to convince myself the job wouldn't be that great and focus on the downsides, but there ARE no downsides with this position, it has everything I want.
