Does anybody work in accounting for the government?

  • Answer:

Government accounting jobs don't pay as well as private firms but you have a better chance of getting a 40 hour week. If you want to make serious money, work for the private sector, but expect a 60 or 70 week. If your GPA wasn't very high, a government accounting career might be better, especially if you can't get a job in the private sector. Accounting are always 'in demand,' so I doubt that would happen. If you worked for the State, you'd probably start as an Account Clerk, then Accountant I, Accountant II, Accountant III, ect.
