Where can I learn more about computers?

Where can we find contacts that will donate computers to our non profit foundation that helps kids learn?

  • We need donated computers to help our foundation provide used or unwanted computers to children for learning, and to help single mothers.

In addition to the good answers above, I have three additional ones: 1. There may actually be an organization in your area that takes in old computers and provides them to nonprofits. For instance, in Washington, DC, there's Community IT Innovators; in Portland, OR, there's Free Geek. I'd Google around for that sort of thing in your area. 2. NTEN -- the Nonprofit Technology Network. In addition to being a good resource in general, you *definitely* want to sign up for the local 501c3-tech mailing list. The volume of traffic varies by city, but I know in DC there are virtually free computers that get offered every single week. Along with copiers, printers, office furniture, etc. 3. A final option, though not a great one, is NPower. They offer *paid* tech consulting services to nonprofits. However, if you call up the office near you, you might be able to convince them to point you in the right direction of any free computers they know of. :)

You may want to contact the Community Development folks at your closest United Way. They help non-profits, families and companies collaborate and will put their feelers out there for you. I don't know that they'll require you to be accredited through them, but it is worth a shot.
