How does Per Diem work?

How many hours can a per diem employee work before they become full time?

  • i am a per diem worker at a hospital in northern california, and i have been working full time hours for about 4 months straight. When are they required to make me full time, or give ...show more

  • Answer:

That is completely up to them. See, contractors can work for years and never be full time. (some people prefer it that way) What I would do is bring it up to them. They may have simply over looked it because they have so many other things to do. If you're doing a decent job, they'll want you onboard because they don't want to loose you. Many times, temp positions are an easy way for the employer to judge how you perform, and they may just need a reminder to bring you on full time. But keep in mind that since they will be paying benefits, your wages may go down if you become full time
