    You can do it yourself but it is very time consuming or you can contact an attorney to help you out. It is expensive though but if you go to the library and get books, they will help you out too. Good Luck as I am trying to get the same thing accomplished too.

I went to www.yahoo.com and typed into search 'how to start a non-profit' and here is one of the results which is a non-profit organization ;) that may provide information on actually starting one: National Council of Nonprofit Associations www.ncna.org/ They have an icon for 'state associations'.
