You can go to the IRS site and get guidelines to write up a 501c3 proposal. You will have to tell them what you are planning and how you plan to do it. You can get all of it done for less than 500.00. As for monetarily benefiting, there are regulations that prohibit self dealing, but you can take a reasonable salary for your efforts. Remember that once a year you have to file a 990 which details all of your contributions and expenses.
