What's the easiest way to go about getting a government job?

Governments, like most bureaucracies, look at education first and foremost. Those with 4 year degrees, masters degrees and PhD's will have a MUCH easier time obtaining a government job.

The only way to get into the government system is through www.usajobs.gov It post every government job and its requirements. If you have never been on the site, go on it and get familiar with it. it does take some getting use to. Not to mention the terminology, KSA's for one. and the several departments the government has. There is no easy way to get one. First, you must take a test, then you are put on the waiting lists because people applied to the job already are ahead. Since you have a job, go apply for them now, if tests are required, you take them. Then wait a month to get results and wait 6 months or longer for them to get down to your name or faster if you did well.

in my opinion, you can apply with the military for a non military position that you're qualified for. the only problem is that even though you'll travel the world over, or overseas, you go where they want you to go when they want you to go.
